When choosing a classic Jukebox.

What jukebox is for me?

There are many classic jukeboxes to pick from all in varying degrees of condition and there is a wide selection of eras to pick from, you should take into account many factors

  • Era

  • Condition

  • Size

  • Cost of Maintenance

Era : When picking out a classic jukebox you can pick up jukeboxes as far as the 1930s or even older . The only problem with buying an old jukebox is going to be to find one that is restored and mechanically sound this is an area of expertise that is becoming very specialized considering that not many people know how to restore these machines If you don't have the knowledge on how to fix a jukebox I would stay away from old jukeboxes they may look cool but keeping them functional can be very daunting

Condition: Depending on where you find it if you find it on craigslist there is a possibility that its probably not working or it hasn't been properly maintained so again its a chance you take not only are you removing somebodies eyesore your inheriting a problem so unless it works or if its a great deal and you plan on taking it to someone who repairs jukeboxes then go for it

Size: As we mentioned earlier these jukeboxes are humongous in some cases weighing in at about 400 pounds and if they were put in a tight basement your in for a tough grind remember this as well if you ever have to take them to get serviced ,not many people doing service calls anymore

Cost of Maintenance: This is another reason you must always think twice before choosing a jukebox with some age on it in some cases 50 to 60 years old these machines need service to continue to make the music and magic we love and expect from these marvelous music machines so expect to pay sometimes more than the box is worth

If you can deal with all the challenges involved with owning one of these machines I would tell you to proceed with caution because its a full-blown hobby if you get involved I don't want to sound negative because I really do Love jukeboxes but I do not want to see a Jukebox get destroyed or neglected by anyone who doesn't appreciate the effort involved with becoming involved with Jukeboxes

So in closing I think jukeboxes are awesome, have I had issues with jukeboxes yes I will admit so but I thoroughly enjoy what they do, in hindsight I wouldn't of bought thirteen of them but that's just me so take my words as wisdom from someone who knows that jukeboxin aint easy.
